On My Bookshelf

Have you heard of The Whole30?  It's a food "program", not diet.  Ok, whatever you want to call it, it's 30 days eating nothing but fruits, vegetables and meat.  No sugar, MSG, alcohol, grains, legumes, dairy, baked goods or junk foods.  I may have missed a few but you get the idea.

I am not a diet kind of girl.  I've never done any of the popular diets out there.  The closest I've come to a diet is trying to decrease my Mountain Dew intake.  I know.  Right now you're thinking, Mountain Dew??  Don't judge.  It's one of my many downfalls.

Anyway, a friend and her husband just finished up their Whole30 program and had nothing but good things to say about how they feel now.  That kind of talk intrigues me and since I love books and had some extra cash, I bought the book and read it.  And, I've bought into the idea of The Whole30 program.

It makes sense to me.  Why?  It eliminates foods we tend to be allergic to or at least intolerant of and then allows you to slowly re-introduce them, all the while paying attention to how we feel after eating them.  What more can I say?  Gas, bloating, indigestion.  I'd love to know which particular foods are causing them.  I'm hoping this program will actually work.

Starting October 1st.  No Mountain Dew!  No yogurt!  No bread!  Starting October 1st.  Eggs, veggies, fruit, meat, repeat.

I think I can, I think I can.

I'll let you know how it goes.
