simple woman's daybook
FOR TODAY October 14, 2013
Outside my window... robins, mourning doves and frost!
I am thinking... as much as I enjoy all four seasons, and the beauty that autumn brings to the earth, it makes me heartsick for summer.
I am thankful... that all our digital pictures are backed up to a separate hard drive.
In the kitchen... beautiful flowers my honey surprised me with.
I am wearing... gray pants, a tank top and a fleece jacket. It was chilly in the house this morning.
I am creating... "grumble squelchers". In light of our family effort to stop whining and complaining, I thought we needed a visual reminder.
I am going... to learn to speak and write french. I would appreciate prayer support for this! :)
I am wondering... if my wanderlust comes from my heart's desire or simply a sense for adventure.
I am reading... Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption by Katie Davis and Beth Clark.
I am hoping... to take the kids for their school pictures tonight.
I am looking forward to... a potential trip to Africa next October.
I am learning... to not be anxious about anything.
Around the house... couch cushions strewn on the floor [sigh]. Mason is in a fort building stage. Not a day goes by that he doesn't pull cushions and pillows off all couches and combine them in one area to build a large fort. If only he would catch on to the fun of cleaning up after himself.
I am pondering... parenthood. It is an ever changing challenge. The minute I start to relax and think I've got it, the kids throw me a curveball.
A favorite quote for today... "You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take." ~Wayne Gretzky
One of my favorite things... books! I love to own them, read them, borrow them and lend them. I love the way they smell and the bits of knowledge imparted through them.
A few plans for the rest of the week: school pictures, Awana, Royal Rangers, Nature journaling class, a few errands and co-op.
A peek into my day...
This hot air balloon lifted off right near the house.

Hello Kim,
ReplyDeleteI am visiting here today from Peggy's and I've enjoyed reading your daybook entry today. The joys of motherhood are countless and I'm always glad to find mom's who enjoy them! My baby turned 36 this year and our first born turned 40, but I am here to tell you that the joys of motherhood continue on through all their years. I, too, love books! I'm a previous school teacher and one of my most favorite times of the year was when the school books would come in and I got to open the boxes and catch those first bits of fragrance of books with each box I opened.
Oooh... love that a hot air balloon took off near you! How fun! A trip to Africa sounds so exciting. That Gretzky quote is fantastic! I knew I had heard the quote before, but forgot it came from him. Have a great week!
