simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY September 23, 2013

Outside my window... a beautiful sunrise shining through some early morning fog.

I am thinking... the leaves are changing color rapidly!

I am thankful... for the warm afternoon sunshine that spills in my windows.

In the kitchen... cucumbers, zucchini and cauliflower from the garden.

I am wearing... charcoal gray sweatpants and my track and field sweatshirt.  I just got in from an invigorating walk. It felt good!

I am creating... a birdcage cover with fun patterned materials.

I am going... to write some letters to some very special children today.

I am wondering... how my sister is doing.  She is still in the hospital with her new little one.  It's been three weeks.  She is heavy on my heart.

I just finished reading... Sleeping in Eden by Nicole Baart.  I quite enjoyed it.

I am hoping... to take the advice of some wise mothers who tell me to enjoy these days, weeks, months and years with my children because they go by way too fast.

I am looking forward to... baking an apple pie soon.  Maybe today!

I am learning... to make every minute count.  With four children it's sometimes tricky to spend one on one time with each of them.  I find that even five uninterrupted minutes alone here and there throughout the day goes a long way.

Around the house... evidence of a birthday celebration in the form of a birthday banner and balloon.

I am pondering... my gifts.  What are my talents, areas of expertise or strengths?  And, how can I use them to make a difference?

A favorite quote for today... "God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars." ~Martin Luther

One of my favorite things... Andes Crème Menthe, Yum!

A few plans for the rest of the week: library day, continue decorating for fall, AWANA, Royal Rangers, small group, nature journal, play outside and hopefully do some shopping for clothes if I can get motivated.

A peek into my day...

  1. Hi! I enjoyed reading your Daybook. I can also tell you that those days, months, and years fly by. I am amazed when I think how quickly it happens! I have one daughter in her 30s, one in her 20s, and one who will be 20 before Christmas. Spending time with your children is a blessing!
