Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY October 25, 2011
Outside my window... cooler temperatures, kids walking to the bus stop and pumpkins.
I am thinking... that life is full of up's and down's.
I am thankful... for my mother, who is my wise counselor at times.
From the learning rooms... somehow while planning this school year I forgot to include handwriting. E reminded me when he was practicing cursive on his own the other day. We are also reading about Babe Ruth and baseball including the World Series and Jazz.
In the kitchen... apples peeled and sliced and ready for a pie.
I am wearing... a track and field sweatshirt, pants and socks. A far cry from shorts and tank top a few weeks ago. I guess October is finally here.
I am creating... a list of letterboxes I'd like to find before the snow flies.
I am going... to dogsit for our neighbors dog while they are on vacation for a week.
I am wondering... if I can make the kids halloween costume's. M wants to be a rock star which should be easy enough, E would like to be a mummy and L is undecided so far.
I am still reading... The Vegetable Gardener's Bible by Edward C. Smith, The Railway Children by E. Nesbit and the Uncommon Woman by Susie Larson and I've added The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell.
I am hoping... to show love to others no matter how they treat me. Not easy in some circumstances!
I am looking forward to... a date with my honey someday.
I am hearing... the sound of large trucks picking up the leaves in the neighborhood as well as honking geese flying overhead.
Around the house... clean, shiny, slippery(!) wood. I used Pledge on some furniture items and while spraying the rag some fell on the wood floor. Whoa! I'm surprised I haven't had any serious falls.
I am pondering... the idea of living one day at a time.
One of my favorite things... the internet. There is a plethora of information at my fingertips. I can't imagine schooling at home fifteen years ago without the internet.
A few plans for the rest of the week: a run to the library, introducing handwriting practice for the boys :), and everyday stuff.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
Pondering which pumpkin she will choose.
Mister M is in constant motion and sat (actually fell) long enough for this picture. :D

Blessings!
Just visiting from the Simple Woman's Daybook. Those are some lovely pictures you've got there. I've just been chopping up a vast quantity of apple to stew for the freezer, so looking forward to apple pies of our own in the future. I hope yours was tasty.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melanie!
ReplyDeleteJo, you'll have to tell me what you do with your apples before you freeze them. I would like to do something similar.
What a sweet daybook entry this was! I enjoyed it very much--your family is very dear. Have you figured out how best to freeze your apples? We have a couple of trees, so I end up putting up quite a few gallon baggies of sliced apples, ready to go into pies (or whatever) through the winter. It's lovely! :)
