Insight from My Little Brother

Image
This is my brother.  He is a son, husband, father, brother and dump truck driver.  He called me the other day to tell me he was driving his big dump truck that morning when up ahead he spotted a mama duck crossing the four-lane highway with her little ducklings trailing along. My manly brother had to tell me that when he saw the duck crossing with her ducklings he immediately started to slow down, safely pull his truck into the middle of two lanes, put on his hazard lights and park.  In the middle of the highway!  Effectively stopping traffic.  He got out of his truck in the middle of the highway(!) to help that mallard family cross the busy street.  (The big sister in me is shaking my head right now).  Little brothers do the craziest things sometimes. :) When the mama and her ducklings made it to the concrete curb, all but one little duckling easily jumped over that man-made curb.  The last little duckling needed a little motivation that m...

June Photo a Day // Day 28 // Orange

Image
day 28 // orange The kids were helping me with today's prompt.  We found all sorts of orange around the house.  We couldn't narrow our pick to just one, so today we are enjoying June photo(s) a day. Doesn't this bear make you smile? A fun summer school writing challenge.  The kids were making sentences with random word tiles.  Marigolds we grew from seed!  They are rewarding us with beautiful color. June Photo a Day // Day 26 // I'm Passionate About This

Image
day 26 // i'm passionate about this // my family When in college I was asked what I wanted to do when I grew up. I had a crazy aha moment right then and there. My answer was, "Be a wife and a mom." I had no idea where that came from. Seriously, I was as confused as the person asking the question. There was no single degree that could equip me for the monumental challenge of being a wife and a mom. I should have listened to that answer because it would have saved me a lot of trial and error of finding myself along the way. I was going with the current of popular culture, looking for the job that would fulfill me, the house that I could call my own and all the things to fill it. In the end, the decision that brought me peace was to stay home and be a wife and a mom. A very imperfect one, but I am passionate about my job family.
