trick or treat

Trick or treat?  That is the question.  Is it just a trick of candy manufacturers and costume makers to empty our wallets or is it a treat for the children (and adults!) to dress up and go door to door? Parents carried their young children door to door or pulled them along in wagons.  They often saw other neighbors and stopped to chat while their kids ran ahead.  I saw many parents who joined in the costume fun.  I saw the Hulk, a few witches, and my neighbor dressed as a pink bunny from the movie A Christmas Story. FOR TODAY October 15, 2012 Outside my window... red, orange and yellow leaves are sprinkled on the grass and the land is drying out after a weekend with lots of rain. I am thinking... of brown paper packages tied up with string. I am thankful... for healthcare professionals that care for us when we can't care for ourselves. In the kitchen... harlequin squash, acorn squash, turnips, beets and zucchini all ripe and waiting for me to make something more of them. I am wearing... black athletic pants, turquoise shirt and black fleece coat to keep the chill away. I am creating... small items with polymer clay. I am going... to see a production of The Secret Garden in which a friends daughter is cast as Mary Lennox.  I can't wait. I am wondering... why my days and weeks seem to be flying by at warp speed. I am reading... you know I love to read and sometimes my 'to read' list gets interrupted by life of all things!  :)  Right now on the nightstand are Dewey: A Small To...

FOR TODAY October 1, 2012   Outside my window... red, brown, yellow and green leaves.  The fall colors are just beautiful. I am thinking... of assignments the kids and I can do outside today.  I think we'll measure off Noah's ark. I am thankful... for good friends. In the kitchen... box cereal for breakfast, pb & j for lunch and pizza for dinner. I am wearing... my blue 'original masterpiece' t-shirt with black athletic pants, running shoes and a fleece jacket. I am creating... a menu plan for the month. I am going... to enjoy watching the kids swim today. I am wondering... if the beauty here on earth is breathtaking, what will heaven be like? I am reading... zip, zilch zero!  However, I am waiting for Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron  to be available at the library.  If you have time, watch Dewey's story from CBS Sunday Morning. I am hoping... there will be another "Bourne" mo...
