FOR TODAY August 14,2012 Outside my window... birds are singing and rejoicing over this beautiful summer morning with not a cloud in the sky. I am thinking... about my oldest friend because it is her 40th birthday today.  Happy Birthday Jess! I am thankful... for bananas!  Without them I wouldn't be able to make delicious smoothies or scrumptious banana bread. In the kitchen... freshly baked bread just out of the bread machine. Yummo! I am wearing... green shorts and a black tank top. I am creating... a few thank you cards. I am going... outside to read one of the many books I've downloaded to my e-reader just after I write this post. I am wondering... if I could ever do a Big Year ?  It would be tons of fun. how does your garden grow?

Image
As you know, we planted a garden for the first time this year.  Here are some pictures of the fruits of our labor. One of two watermelon.  Isn't it cute? Our one and only butternut squash.  There were two but one quickly shriveled up due to lack of water for a few days.  Frankly, I was surprised at how quickly the fruit died. One of many cucumber we've been able to enjoy and my husbands favorite. Kohlrabi, a new vegetable experience for us. Tomatoes. Banana peppers. Promise of more to come!

summer sweets

An all around edible sweet.  Chocolate bowls filled with ice cream.  I found it on Pinterest.  Dip a balloon in chocolate and put it in the refrigerator to harden.  Pop the balloon and fill with your favorite ice cream.  In our case it was vanilla with sprinkles.  Yum!
