simple woman's daybook

For Today... April 25, 2016

Outside my window... a gray day is pressing in and the goldfinches are sunny yellow.

I am thinking... of Megan.  We celebrate her 9th birthday this week.

I am thankful... for friends who stand with me through the good, the bad and the ugly.

I am wearing... workout clothing.  Hoping that if I wear them, I'll actually work out.  If not, at least I look like I did. :)

I am creating... a long awaited master bedroom spruce up inspired by the new quilt.
I am going... to be a travel widow this week as my husband is travelling for work.

I am wondering... if I'll ever be great at taking risks and going all in, feet first.  I tend to hem and haw, take two steps forward and one step back in most situations.  Sometimes I just want to leap first and look later.

I am reading...  Answering Jihad: A Better Way Forward by Nabeel Qureshi.

I am hoping... God blesses me with many days, weeks, months and years.

I am learning... to be a proactive parent instead of a reactive parent.  This is a tough one for me.

In my garden... some seeds are snuggled in the earth and the garden art tips slightly this way or that due to the ground settling into spring.

In my kitchen... scallions and mushrooms to integrate into dinner tonight and some butterscotch dessert Patrick made for his men's night out tonight.

In the homeschool room... social studies and "what if" scenarios.

A favorite quote for today... "Go wisely and slowly.  Those who rush stumble and fall." ~William Shakespeare

A peek into one of my days...
Beautiful and delicious treats at bible study the other week.

One of my favorite things...
This photo of Josephine's bible.  I see a life lived by faith and hope.

  1. Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope the birthday celebration is fun this week and that time flies fast while your husband is gone. When my husband was on the road a lot, it seemed like forever before he'd get home.

  2. I so need to do better about being proactive instead of reactive!

  3. I don't have a garden where I live currently because our yard is more sand than dirt, but we bought another house in a nearby town and are remodeling it. As soon as we move I'm going to have the garden I've wanted for years.
