An Applesauce Day

Taking advantage of a cold and rainy day, I made applesauce with mom.

and faithful instruction is on her tongue. (Proverbs 31:26)

It's in the Name

I often wonder how a name comes about when it comes to recipes.  Take for example a Slider, or Po' Boy.  How about a Dump cake?  Drink names are also curious.  A Screwdriver, Cosmopolitan or Jimney.  You know there are some fun stories behind those names.
I have unveiled the mystery of the name for Chex Muddy Buddies; unofficially of course.  Actually Mason was the mastermind.  We were working together in the kitchen making this yummy snack and I had just pulled the peanut butter, chocolate chips and butter from the microwave and began to stir it with Mason looking on.  When most of the ingredients were mixed together Mason observed, "Eew, that looks like mud!"  Huh, I'm making Muddy Buddies and the mixture looked like mud?  That quite sums it up for me.  Pretty sure Mason is a genius too!  :)

FOR TODAY October 14, 2013
Outside my window...
robins, mourning doves and frost!

I am thinking... as much as I enjoy all four seasons, and the beauty that autumn brings to the earth, it makes me heartsick for summer.

I am thankful... that all our digital pictures are backed up to a separate hard drive.

In the kitchen... beautiful flowers my honey surprised me with.

I am wearing... gray pants, a tank top and a fleece jacket.  It was chilly in the house this morning.

I am creating... "grumble squelchers".  In light of our family effort to stop whining and complaining, I thought we needed a visual reminder.

I am going... to learn to speak and write french.  I would appreciate prayer support for this! :)

I am wondering... if my wanderlust comes from my heart's desire or simply a sense for adventure.

I am reading... Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption by Katie Davis and Beth Clark.

I am hoping... to take the kids for their school pictures tonight.
