simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY August 5, 2013

Outside my window... it's a cloudy gray day with rain and cooler temps expected.

I am thinking... of the Schuenke family who just arrived in El Salvador to begin their 2 year commitment.  You can enjoy updates on their blog: Broken Vessels.

I am thankful... for my children's good dispositions on Saturday as we did a lot of walking in the heat.  They all did great with almost no complaining!

In the kitchen... I'm thawing chicken for dinner.  I'd like to make chicken enchiladas.  We'll see if I make it to the grocery store for the ingredients.  Might just grill it.

I am wearing... denim capris with an orange scoop neck t-shirt and my tree of life necklace.

I am creating... organized spaces.  It is a s.l.o.w process but we're getting there.  Patrick finished with the shelves for the garage this weekend and now we need to organize the items we put on those shelves.

I am going... to run errands today.  Nothing too exciting but the overcast skies motivate me to get a few things done indoors today.

I am wondering... if I have the skills necessary to build a bird house?

I am reading... Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homelessness to Hope by  Kevin Ryan & Tina Kelley.

I am hoping... for the lunch fairy to visit and make lunch for me today. :)

I am looking forward to... making yummy treats in the next few days.  I've not been baking in the kitchen for far too long.

I am learning... all about lovebirds.

Around the house... we are in a state of clutter and chaos with many projects started in various rooms and none of them finished.

I am pondering... dare I say the new school year?  Oh, the summer is going by way too quickly and soon I'll be teaching again.  I have a sort of love/hate relationship with the whole thought process.  I'm excited to begin a new year but not so excited about the work.

A favorite quote for today... "Mom, you look like a princess!" ~Mason, 2 years old.  Hands down my favorite quote.

One of my favorite things... my journal.  I love to read through past entries.  I gain a whole new perspective of myself and circumstances.

A few plans for the rest of the week: take it easy and hold tight to summer vacation!

A peek into my day...
