simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY March 5, 2013

Outside my window...  a calm, cool morning with overcast skies.

I am thinking... about imperfect progress.  Those baby steps that I take in certain areas that might not look the way I wanted them to, but at least I'm still going forward.

I am thankful... that each morning begins a new day full of promise.

In the kitchen... I'm thinking of pulling the Amish Cinnamon Bread starter out of the freezer to begin another round of baking bread every ten days.  It's also Pizza Tuesday in this house so no cooking for me!

I am wearing... gray jammie bottoms with a green t-shirt and black feece coat for warmth.  Translation: comfy home clothes.

I am creating... a list of ideas to put together a basket of goodies for our friend who just had a new baby girl.

I am going... crazy!  Want to come along?  My life has been a roller coaster full of ups & downs, twists and turns.

I am wondering... why I'm living in the neighborhood I currently live?  Who am I going to affect, change, irritate?  I believe nothing is a coincidence and that I'm here for a certain purpose.  I wonder what that purpose is?

I am reading... and studying the book of Philippians in the Bible.  I'm also reading Good  and Angry: Exchanging Frustration for Character in You and Your Kids! by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller.  I just started it and have already underlined much.

I am hoping... to connect with a dear friend very soon.  I need her listening ear and need to lean in and share space with her.

I am looking forward to... an adventure.  I'm feeling restless.

I am learning... that being emotional is a good thing (!) as long as we use our emotions for good or in a good way.  Even anger.

Around the house... all is quiet.  I'd like to think of it as the 'calm before the storm'.  Soon all the children will be waking and starting their day and the house will be full of chatter and noise.

I am pondering... the word ponder.  Merriam-Webster.com gives a few definitions which make ponder seem 'bigger' than just thinking.  One definition is: to think or consider especially quietly, soberly, and deeply.  Hmm, what shall I ponder?

A favorite quote for today... "Mom, I'm more like a boy than a girl."  Said by my five year old daughter.  Her list of boy-like qualities included playing Lego Star Wars, Hero Factory and playing with stuffed animals.

One of my favorite things... frosty mornings where the frost grips the trees and bushes and makes everything shimmer in the sunlight.

A few plans for the rest of the week: return library materials, attend a friend's Thirty One party, make a decision about possibly traveling in the next two weekends and get ready for co-op.

A peek into my day...

  1. I am alos in Philippians. I am reading the Bible through and this just happens to be where I am. Lots of great stuff in those few short chapters! I often wonder why I am at the job I'm at. I know I am here for a reason. I just try to be a light in the darkness. :) I have a tom-boy too who just turned 21! I can't believe it! Hope you have a blessed week!
