simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY January 10, 2012

Outside my window... the sky is dark and clear and the moon is very bright.

I am thinking... of the first time I made a daybook entry way back on April 6, 2009.

I am thankful... for all that God has given me.  My faith, husband, children, family, house, employment and health just to name the top seven.

In the kitchen... there is no box cereal for the children's breakfast so we will be having toast.  Amish cinnamon bread batter waiting to be baked.

I am wearing... my favorite blogging outfit.... my jammies!

I am creating... a plethora of craft ideas on pinterest and hoping to tackle at least one per month.

I am hearing... my husband getting ready for work and the coffee pot brewing a morning cup of enjoyment.

I am going... to print some of my favorite pictures from last year and fill an album with them.  I will do this by the end of January! (Giving myself a stern reminder and pep talk)

I am wondering... why I cannot find a book light that is easy to use and actually lights up the book adequately enough to read in the dark.

I am reading... the archaeological bible and finding many fascinating tidbits that I hope to remember, a dog training book and the newest issue of Real Simple magazine.

I am hoping... we can go on a fun vacation to a place yet to be determined during the 2012 year.  It's been a while since we've been able to truly get away to a 'far away' land.

I am looking forward to... cheering for my favorite four year old tonight during the Cubbie award celebration for Awana.

I am learning... all about World War II with the boys.

Around the house... I still have some totes of Christmas decorations waiting to be put back into storage.  I am also looking about the house with a critical decorator's eye and making a list of decorating projects I'd like to accomplish in the coming months.

I am pondering... whether or not to attend the women's retreat this year.

A favorite quote for today... actually it's yesterday's quote from my facebook status but I think it's worth repeating today; 'A bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't.'

One of my favorite things... watching the sun rise.

A few plans for the rest of the week: enjoy the spring-like temperatures today, a trip to the library, grocery store and post office.  Awana tonight and Co-op on Friday.

A peek into my day...
Meet Milo!  The newest addition to our family.

  1. Your quote for the day is great! and Milo is precious! My coffe never really kicked in today. I think I am starting to come down with something! This warm/cold winter is causing lots of sickness around here...praying I can fight it off.

  3. Kim,
I love your quote and the puppy is adorable! What breed? How is everyone adjusting? Puppies are so much work but I would be lost without mine!

  4. oh my, your new addition is a bundle of sweet joy!

thinking about your book light... does amazon have any. Wouldn't work very well for me, as if it is darkish and I am holding a book in my hand, it is only a matter of minutes before my eyes are ready for sleep.

What are you hesitating on about your retreat? Our church used to go yearly, but attendance got to be so ridiculously low (out of 400 women we had about 40) that they no longer do them. Sad, as I enjoyed a brief flight away with God. I know it is hard to get away, but so many times the HOLY SPIRIT ministered to my heart (usually not through the speakers, but in our alone time together).

    Enjoy your January.
