simple woman's daybook

FOR TODAY December 20, 2011

Outside my window... it's pretty dark, but it looks cloudy again.

I am thinking... that I haven't seen the sun in a long time and think I must be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  I gave a speech on SAD when in high school and it has stuck with me ever since.

I am thankful... for internet Christmas shopping.  We're almost finished and we didn't leave our house to run amuck with the general population at the mall this year.  And, before you gasp and tell me I should buy locally, I want to say that I do that the rest of the year and that using the internet to shop has kept this mom and dad sane and less stressed about everything. :)

From the learning rooms... reading some books on World War II but we are mostly on our Christmas break.

In the kitchen... bread baking day.  Should have some yummy muffins and loaves of bread to enjoy after lunch.

I am wearing... a charcoal gray shirt and my jammie bottoms.  I am half ready for the day.

I am creating... a fun little Christmas present for my honey.  I sure hope I finish on time.

I am going... to do everything to the glory of the One who made me!  (Great song by Steven Curtis Chapman)

I am wondering... what kind of fun Christmas cookies to make?

I am reading... Before and After Getting Your Puppy by Dr. Ian Dunbar and Read the Bible for Life by George H. Guthrie.  I find both of them to be good reads and quite interesting.

I am hoping... that our house will become 100% healthy sometime next year.  :D  I'd hope for this year but there are not many days left and M is sniffling and coughing again!

I am looking forward to... celebrating Christmas!  We are also hosting my husbands family this year which should be a good time.

I am hearing... M singing while playing.

Around the house... bits and pieces.

I am pondering... the bible and how amazing it is.  Some have asked me why I read the bible and believe like I do.  The simplest answer is,  "Because it works!"

One of my favorite things... the sunshine-y attitude M has every day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: pick up some much anticipated holds from the library, exchange some items, drop off a Christmas gift or two and celebrate Jesus' birthday, woot woot!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... some of my favorites from 2011!

  1. Too many cloudy days in a row can cloud the mind. In the meantime, I'm hoping you can find your sunshine in the one who made you. =)

  2. Kim,
Internet shopping is the best way to shop! I did not step foot in a shopping mall this year either. Lovely!
I would love to have a lovely muffin or slice of your homemade bread!
    Merry Christmas to you!

  3. I don't go to the malls anymore either. If I can't find it in my little town then I get it online! Love hearing that you bake bread. I have yet to make a successful loaf!!!! Very depressing!
