Simple Woman's Daybook

For today April 26, 2011

Outside my window... it is dark and gray with lots of rain.

I am thinking... of building an ark because of all the rain in the forecast.  Next time we are supposed to see the sun is Friday and as we know, the weather is very hard to predict.

I am thankful for... my home that keeps me warm and dry, windows that allow me to see God's beauty while staying warm and dry inside, a working vehicle that protects me from the elements while running errands and my computer.

I am wearing... a purple pullover, jeans and my spa socks.  Yes, I'm pampering my tootsies while my fingers are doing all the work right now. ;)

In the learning rooms... perseverance, Italy, reading, writing and arithmetic.

I am remembering... our Easter dinner was somewhat of a disappointment because our oven stopped working right in the middle of warming our holiday ham.

I am going... to blog about our trip to the zoo and museum.

I am reading... Amish grace : how forgiveness transcended tragedy.

I am hoping... to fill many bags with gently used household items for the local shelters and donate the rest elsewhere.

I am hearing... rain pelting the windows and the sump pump turning on intermittently and the tick-tock of a clock.

On my mind... my identity.  Who am I?  Who am I in Christ?

Noticing that... it's quarter to eight in the morning and ALL the kids are still sleeping.  Rare!

From the kitchen... something stove top since I haven't gotten around to calling anyone about the oven.

Around the house... freshly vacuumed carpets, general tidiness in most of the rooms, a load of laundry to be folded, an encyclopedia of dog breeds book on the table and a 'to do' list just waiting for me to cross off some items.

One of my favorite things... filling out the Simple Woman's Daybook without interruption.

From my camera...
Our taco shells we tried to grill since our oven isn't working right now.

  1. You're having the same kind of blah weather...
    I see you're a fan of Beth Moore..love her....
love the photos of your boys on the beach...
Hope you have a great week and a faulty oven is a good excuse not to cook too much...Its probably just the element if the clock still works..easy to repair...

  2. Spring has been exceptionally slow to arrive here as well. We got six inches of snow last weekend. I'm antsy for summer! Love the taco photo, by the way. That totally looks like some of the fine cuisine I've turned out in recent days. =) It's nice to know I'm not the only one!

  3. Kim,
Send some of that rain in our direction....we are in a terrible drought! Hang in there, soon you will see the sun and enjoy the warm rays of sunshine. Looking forward to reading about your trip to the zoo.
    Blessings
