Simple Woman's Daybook

For today June 22, 2010

Outside my window.... a beautiful sun-filled day with a view of my neighbors new above ground pool.  With a high in the mid-eighties today, I wonder if they'll be able to enjoy it?

I am thinking..... of blogging friends who encourage me and make me laugh.

I am thankful for.....  how gentle God is with me.

I am wearing..... black tank top and comfy shorts.

I am hearing..... the air-conditioner and the dogs toenails on the wood floor.

I am going..... to watch some tennis on TV today while folding laundry.  Second day of  Wimbledon 2010.  I sure do enjoy watching tennis.  Maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to watch a match or two in person.

I am reading..... nothing right now and looking for a good summer read.

I am hoping..... to increase my awareness of others wants and needs and decrease my awareness of self.

I am creating..... nothing right now, but I am feeling the urge to sew.  This is weird, since I don't sew.

On my mind...... lots of dreams of living in the country, tending a large garden and gathering fresh eggs for the day.

From the learning rooms..... summer vacation for the kids, but I am compiling a list of small unit studies I'd like to tackle this year.

Noticing that..... we have a never ending supply of dirty clothes for the washing machine. ☺

Praying for..... a smooth adoption process for friends entering a new and exciting phase for their family and safe travels for my brother-in-law and his girlfriend as they travel in and around Ireland.

From the kitchen..... It's Tuesday which means the pantry is rather empty.  I think we'll have parmesan chicken for dinner tonight.  Then, I'm off to the store tomorrow to take advantage of double coupon day.

Around the house..... it looks as if our suitcases exploded after we brought them in.  There are clothes and shoes and other items strewn about from our weekend away.

One of my favorite things.... the way the kids play together.  For the most part they get along well and the older boys even include their younger sister most of the time.  What a blessing!

A few plans for the rest of the week..... make a grocery list today and shop tomorrow, sign up the kids for swimming lesssons, pay bills, order a couple books, buy birdseed and clean the windows.

A picture thought or two.....
Stopping to smell the flowers.

Sporting a fern hat to keep the flies from bugging him. ☺

Re-purposing a stick as a gun!

  1. Love the pics! So cute, especially the fern on the head. You may be looking for "light reading this summer, but I just finished reading two amazing non fiction books: "The Organic God" by Margaret Feinberg and "Radical" by David Platt. I highly recommend both of them. Hope you are enjoying your summer!

  2. Kim,
I certainly enjoy reading your day book. We have the same issues at my house when we come back from a trip and our suitcases seem to just explode with more things that we bring home than we took along with us!
I encourage you in your desire to increase your awareness of others wants and needs and decrease your awareness of self. A lofty goal to be sure!
    grace to you,
    ~a

  3. Thank you for the book recommends Star. I will certainly check them out.

Annesta, it really seems like a weekend away gives a week of work when we get back. Everything is all picked up and laundry is washed and folded. Now we just need to put the laundry away... before wearing it again. ☺
